Montgomery, AL. – During the Alabama House Democratic Caucus weekly press conference that was held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, Rep. Sam Jones (D-Mobile) discussed the beneficial impacts of infrastructure investment and how it will bring jobs and growth to Alabama.
Rep. Jones described how the proximity of highways, railways, air transport, and the Port of Mobile influenced companies like Airbus and Lockheed Martin to consider Mobile, AL as the location for converting civilian transport aircraft into specialized military mid-air refueling tankers for the United States Airforce.
Rep. Jones stated, “Whether it’s manufacturing state-of-the-art mid-air refueling tankers or opening a brand new mom and pop neighborhood bakery, a solid, functional infrastructure is the core element necessary for our long-term economic growth. It is an investment into our future that pays for itself quickly as we attract emerging new industries and help our homegrown businesses take root and thrive.”
“This project will create jobs and revenue for the residents of Mobile, but it’s important to note that it would not even be remotely possible without the basics of an infrastructure system that could handle this type of specialized business”, Rep. Jones added.
